letgo! The last stop of our Hiring Week BCN

A huge highlight of our bootcamps at Ironhack is Hiring Week, where we formally introduce our group of tech talent to the local job market. The goal is to match every job-seeking student with the career of their dreams.During this last Hiring Week in Barcelona, we passed by the letgo offices, a Spanish app that allows users to buy and sell used personal belongings online.

The visit was made possible by two very important Marcs: Marc from Startup Jobs BCN and Marc our Barcelona Campus Manager. The new Ironhack students from the upcoming cohort have been coming in every day for their Week Zero, so they all participated in the very special visit.

Maria Franquesa, HR Director of letgo, welcomed us with open arms to the incredible offices that perpetrated both open space and an open mind. The offices had a picturesque view of Port Vell, a waterfront harbor part of the Port of Barcelona, they had a PlayStation, fresh fruit, candies, a typical startup kitchen, as friendly as it was professional, neverending computers and a bike for every developer.

We made our way to the huge meeting room where we’d be given some letgo swag, a canvas bag, a shirt and laptop stickers. Enrique Linares, the co-founder, gave a brief but thorough presentation about letgo’s business model. In fact, when they started they were at Valkiria, a co-working space next to our campus in Poblenou.

As soon as Enrique wanted to keep showing us around, an unexpected power shortage in the building put the tour to a pause. It was the perfect moment for a Q&A. Adrià Vallès – Lead Backend Engineer, Roger Torrente – Lead Backend Engineer and Manel Palop – SysAdmin elaborated on all the technicalities of letgo.

After a long and detailed explanation with visual aids, Imanol Pérez – Lead Android Engineer, Albert Hernández – Lead iOS Engineer y Felipe Saal – Designer & Frontend Developer took the stage to answer the students’ questions.

It was the relentless question asking and curiosity that made us realize how a passion for technology and a satisfied user are what drive a company towards success.

It was an honor to have had this opportunity with the team of visionaries at letgo! Check out the images of the entire experience below:
